ALBERTA INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION AWARDS – UKRAINE
Value: $5000 each – five awards
Application Deadline: November 15
Notes: To recognize the accomplishments of intern, co-op, practicum, apprenticeship, and research students. : The applicant must be a post-secondary student or an apprenticeship student taking a practicum, internship, co-op, apprenticeship program, or a student conducting research (one-term). The recipient will be selected based on demonstrated past accomplishments and potential for improving relations between Ukraine and Alberta. A committee comprised of 4 members, representing the Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta, the Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre from Grant MacEwan College, the Ukrainian Foundation For College Education, and one other member representing Ukrainian interests in Alberta, will review the transcripts and applications of all applicants and determine which students will receive the awards. The committee will attempt to balance awards among different programs.The full-time enrollment of the student will be confirmed prior to the award being issued.

CBC LITERARY AWARDS COMPETITION
The 2004 CBC Literary Awards Competition is now open. CBC Radio and Radio-Canada invite you to put your talent to the test and enter your short stories, poetry, and travel writing. The deadline is November 15, 2004.
What are the Awards?
The CBC Literary Awards Competition is the only literary competition that celebrates original, unpublished works, in Canada’s two official languages. There are three categories”?short story, poetry, and travel writing”?and awards totalling $60,000, courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts. In addition, winning entries are published in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine and broadcast on CBC radio

FELLOWSHIPS FOR FULL-TIME STUDIES IN FRENCH
Value: $500 per semester
Application Deadline: November 15
Notes: To assist Albertans in pursuing post-secondary studies taught in French. Applicants must be Alberta residents, Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants, and plan to enroll full-time in a post-secondary program of at least one semester in length. At least three courses per semester must be taught in French. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement during the previous academic year.
Application: Application forms are available from Alberta Scholarship Programs, and from the Student Awards Office at Alberta post-secondary institutions that offer programs taught in French.
