Scholarships & Awards

Purpose: The Northern Alberta Development Bursary was created to increase the number of trained professionals in northern Alberta and to encourage students from northern Alberta to obtain a post-secondary education. See map for communities considered as part of northern Alberta.

Value: Bursaries are valued at $3,000 for one year of study. Recipients receive $1,500 if they only attend school for one semester. About 125 bursaries are awarded each year.

Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of Alberta, and planning to enrol in a full-time post-secondary program. Applicants must also be within two years of completion of their post-secondary program.

For each year of bursary funding, students must live and work for one year in northern Alberta. Students have up to six months after graduation to find a job related to their field of study.

The 2006 Retail as a Career Scholarship Program is in full swing. Developed in conjunction with leading Canadian retailers, the Retail as a Career Scholarship Program is open to post-secondary students interested in a career in the retail industry. RCC will award twenty $1, 000 scholarships to provide financial assistance to commited and deserving students who are pursuing an education in retail or business related post-secondary program.

20 winners will be selected and will receive their awards at STORE 2006 – Canada’s retail conference, taking place June 5 & 6, 2006. All travel and accommodation will be provided, as well as full delegate passes to the conference – a fantastic opportunity for you to meet with executives and see how the industry really works!
