The origin of the glyph for Aries is unknown. The symbol, two half moons joined by a straight line, is representative of the upward and outward flow of energy as in the fountain of life. Some see it as a sprouting seed reaching toward the sky. As well, it could be viewed as the eyebrows and nose of the Ram, the astrological symbol for Aries.
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. The Ram is a masculine fire sign ruled by the planet Mars, the god of war. Aries is symbolic of new beginnings as the world awakens in the spring. The doers of the zodiac, Rams are courageous, brave, energetic, excitable, and optimistic. They are constantly moving forward. The Ram craves excitement; they want to live life to the fullest.
