Students at Wilfred Laurier University in Ontario received an email earlier this month from the dean of students reminding them that they are expected to show up for class on March 17. The Waterloo Region Record reported in a recent article, Safety and respect are messages for students partying on St Patrick’s Day, that local authorities are being proactive ahead of the annual student-driven festivities. Past years have seen thousands of students celebrating St Patrick’s Day by congregating and “openly drinking” in a nearby student-saturated neighbourhood. Meanwhile, at AU: crickets.
