Next stop: the Oscars! In a first for a Canadian post-secondary education institution, Ontario’s Sheridan College has received a Tony Award nomination. In a news release on its website, Sheridan College announced it has received a nomination for Best Musical for its role in producing the musical “Come From Away”. The popular play about air travellers stranded in Gander and other communities in Newfoundland in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, got its start at Sheridan College and has since appeared on Broadway. “Come From Away” received a total of seven Tony Award nominations for 2017.
