Digging up Scholarship Treasure for AU Students

Scholarship name:  The Dick Shaw Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility restriction:  Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants, be enrolled in, or about to enrol in, a full-time program at a Canadian college or university with some relevance to the non-military use of explosives or blasting (e.g. mining, civil or chemical engineering, geology, etc.).  See full eligibility requirements.

What’s required:  An email along with the applicant’s résumé, recent transcripts or letter of acceptance, and an essay entitled “The safe use of controlled blasting in modern day construction and mining.”  (There is no mandatory minimum or maximum word count for the essay, but organizers suggest 350 to 1000 words as a guideline.)

Tips:  As an alternative to an essay, applicants can submit a video, PowerPoint presentation, or a mixed media piece.
