We’re at the tail end of Random Acts of Kindness week (Feb 11 to 17), which culminates in Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17. We were pleased, but not at all surprised, to discover many articles in The Voice‘s archives on this kindness movement.
From one student to another. Debbie Jabbour, who was then AUSU’s student council president, relates how touched she was by an unexpected gift from another AU student. “She doesn’t know me, and we may never meet in person. But this kind and incredibly thoughtful gesture has brought us close and taught me a valuable lesson.” From My Perspective – Random Acts of Kindness, February 25, 2004.
One act leads to another. Carla Knipe provides some ideas for practicing Random Acts of Kindness. “It seems that some side effects of modern life are that people seem to be much more unkind to each other than they once were and that people are so conscious of the “rat race” that they are losing their connection with others. Perhaps this is the reason why people respond positively when they hear about others taking the time to be kind.” Throw Kindness Around Like Confetti, February 24, 2017.
