Research Assistant Opportunity: Nurse Licensing in a Globalized World

Each vocation in our lives has at least two overarching themes. First, we are called to do something because we find it gratifying and second we are called to undertake a career because of the reward that it provides.  Being a nurse is one such instance where caring for others and being able to demonstrate that caring in a caring and courteous manner is a job that, in reality, can only be done if the person gets a degree of fulfillment from the act of caring itself.  Caring, as the saying goes, is caring – but, we living in modernity as we do, require assorted credentials to be a caring nurse.  This project enters the weeds and intrigues of how vital new Canadians enter the mosaic of our country and what happens to their prior careers when they get here. This “CIHR-funded research project examining licensure reform for internationally educated nurses” seeks to uncover what happens when Nurses from overseas arrive here and how to better equip them with the proper papers to practice their trade, perhaps in a sense their love, here in Canada. If this topic interests you please send your “a brief cover letter summarizing your skills, interests, and experience; a current resume or CV; an unofficial copy of your transcript; and the contact information for 1‐2 references.”.

Requisite prior training in nursing and related public policy fields is a requirement.
