Research Assistant Opportunity—AI on the Mind, AI in the Coursework

The idea that our essays might write themselves occurs to many of us as we strive to accomplish our schoolwork while balancing other life tasks.  Personally, washing dishes never seems a more attractive option than when I sit down to do the legwork on a crucial writing project.  But in 2024 a dawning sense that, if not now then soon (rather than if not now then when?), a computer may actually write or edit our assignments for us.  To that end this RAO “will investigate the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology for post-secondary research and writing.”

Components of this RAO will include assisting in the writing of a literature review of relevant material, developing learning material and assets that can be incorporated into courses, and regularly meeting online with the team leader.  The successful applicant, besides the usual reading, writing, and communicating skills, ought to have a knowledge of Excel, Word, and other Apps in that realm of computer usage.  After all, even AI requires some user ability and presumably will for some time to come!
If this sounds up your alley (or hard drive, for the punny among us) then you’re “encouraged” to submit a brief cover letter listing your skills, “plus a current resume or curriculum vitae” to Dr.  Levina Yuen at cyuen@athabascau.ca This one sounds fun, right?  But they all do!
