Marie Well

I’m Marie Well, as in healthy well. At least, that’s my aim—to get well and make you well. We all have woes, from breakups to cancer to hoarder houses. I’m here to fix those woes—with tips mixed with my own tales.

Why read me? I’ve got a track record of fixin’ stuff. I’ve cured myself of anxiety. For a decade, I had anxiety attacks that struck almost daily. When not stricken, I’d write Voice articles, mostly on how to combat stress.

And then my world changed. One week went by with no attacks. A month. A year. Two years. And counting.

Now, I want to skyrocket our health—and bolster our creativity. After all, nothing soothes better than strokes of paint or tones of music or reps in a gym.

So, let’s get fit, creative, and well with Marie Well.

The Social Student – Toss the Monkey!

I misled you. In a past article, I recommended using SurveyMonkey. Sadly, the survey beast costs $35 a month?that is, if you want a survey with more than ten questions or a hundred respondents. So, I’ve found a free alternative: Google Forms. As a caveat, respondents need to sign-in to Google to fill out your… Read more »

The Creative Spark! – Dig Deep

Do you ever wonder what lurks behind your hidden madness? Well, the subconscious mind will bring you closer to your unbridled truths. And these truths don’t add up to logic?at least not in this crazy world. What makes sense to one era is irrational in another. For instance, in biblical times, pagan believers sacrificed their… Read more »

The Social Student – Share Ideas

Want a shocker? Well, I plan on posting my students’ presentations on YouTube—with student permissions, of course. Online for the public eye—creating open and transparent knowledge—knowledge educators tend to stuff inside the catacombs (translate: garbage bins) of ivory towers. As an aside, I’m not an AU instructor; I instruct at a small community college. But… Read more »

The Creative Spark! – Breakthroughs

Are you passionate about your talents? And do you specialize or do-it-all? Well, if you specialize, then you should also explore widely; if you do-it-all, then find common ground. The Creative Spark! – Live the Research

Do you want to master your studies? And by that I mean, find a spark of passion that makes your research bigger than your dreams? Because if you do, your chances of success spike. You see, I know researchers studying homelessness, but they wouldn’t sleep in a homeless shelter during sabbatical?as part of their research…. Read more »

Why wait for next months’s journal article when you can read-between-the-lines today? Yes, with social media, you get instant access to academia’s thought leaders. Simply pluck the best authors from your bibliography, and follow them?through, say, Twitter or Facebook. Pluck those birds bald. But why follow top academics? When you get intimate with thought-leaders in… Read more »

Many academics craft surveys. You, too, will face a survey research assignment, whether as an undergrad enrolled in a research class or as a graduate student. The Lonely Social Student

Facebook’s now a landmark for student cash, clubs, and contests. Let me clarify. Do you have a research project and need to solicit research participants for interviews?
