Bushwoman Bonnie donates to Wigs for Kids for the third time!

On Apr8il 1, 2006, Bonnie (aka “Bushwoman”) Nahornick hosted the Canadian Diabetes Association Fundraiser where her head was shaved for charity. Doorprizes were donated by a variety of individuals and businesses, including The Voice. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Canadian Diabetes Association and her hair will be donated to Wigs for Kids. Bonnie works in the Calgary Learning Center of Athabasca University as a student advisor and this is her third shearing for charity in as many years.

Among the attendees were three current AU students, 2 alumni, an AU tutor a former AU Career Counsellor and the MLA from Calgary Varsity (Harry Chase). Bonnie’s events bring together all facets of the AU community like nothing else!

Donations were received by both attendees and others, and it’s not too late for you to contribute. While you mull it over, review the pictures of the event on the left to find out what you missed.

Wigs for Kids is a not-for-profit organization providing hair replacement for children affected by hair loss due to chemotherapy, alopecia, burns and other medical conditions.

You can still sponsor Bonnie. Funds are being collected for the Canadian Diabetes Association. It is possible to donate by cheque, cash and/or charge card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express). Income tax receipts will be issued on donations over $15. For more information, please contact Bonnie (aka “Bushwoman”) at 403-860-6569 or email baldster2006@yahoo.ca
